Vegetables are a good source of food that contain low calorie, therefore it helps in fullness without increase of weight. The huge waste content that it contains preserves the water intake our digestive system that allows passage in digestive tract without causing any irritability in bowel movement. Also the water and the fiber content would help us from conditions like hemorrhoids, colon cancer, and rectal fissure. Vegetables contain the following: calcium, magnesium, potassium, folic acid, iron, beta-carotene, vitamin B-complex, vitamin-C, vitamin A, and vitamin K. This includes the antioxidants that help capture free radicals in our body that would be prevention for stress, infection and cancer. Furthermore, they help us maintain our immunity level by boosting it and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack and stroke

Recommended intake: according to pyramid 4-8 servings per day

Serving size: 1 cup of raw vegetables or ½ cup of cooked vegetables per meal.
